So, normally I'm pretty chill about what people do with my icons. I've seen people using them without credit and I've seen them hotlinked on forums (sometimes with credit) and I've just left it alone because, hey, some loss of control is inevitable when you post things online.
But this? Hotlinking, not crediting, AND making a fuss about how you won't post anymore icons if people don't comment/add you? WTF.
And it's not just that they took some of my icons (and lots by other, not-me people).
It's that they took the worst icons from the very first icon post I made. I've made much better icons since but they had to go and steal the old crappy ones. And they took them recently, because those particular links have only been up for little over a month, so I know there were hundreds of better icons available.
So, not only are they thieves, but THIEVES WITH BAD TASTE.

At what point does creativity become horrible graphics?
( thinking out loud, I guess )
What do you think about the latest trends in icon making? Do you like them? Do you ever look at a popular style and think "...why?"
examples quickly made by me - i can't even remember how to do the radioactive thing but i think it's right, heh. |

Okay, this may seem a little meh but has anyone else ever been banned from an icontest community before - with no explanation?
I have the feeling one (or more) of the mods don't like me but I haven't done anything wrong. I made one mistake in the last challenge and immediately recified it and suddenly I'm banned from there.
What the hell? |

I follow a particular awards community for my fandom. I don't take it seriously and half the time the icons that win are ridiculously trendy and not the ones I vote for, but I can see that they did take time/effort to make. That said, why the hell would you nominate an icon that still has the CW tag on it? I mean, seriously? It doesn't look like they did anything but crop (badly) and stick some (boring) text on it. Why the hell would you nominate it for an award? |

I feel like every time I post icons that the urge to rant is strongest, LOL. *G*
Anyway, I posted icons.
They were of various celebs and some fandom and what-have-you.
One of the comments I got was actually really nice. No big deal. However. Asking me to join your LIMS? Very uncool. Especially when the LIMS is entirely unrelated to the content of my icon post.
FTL.
*facepalm*
Other than that, thanks for that comment there, LOL.

So I was looking through my f-list like I usually do and I came across this post that included a some certain fandom icons. I decided to click on the post out of pure curiosity (because I really don't hunt down for icons since I make them myself) and I see you have posted a billion icons (ok not a billion but 284) I skimmed through all of them and I wonder if all these are bases...then I scroll up and the first thing I see stated at the beginning of the post is "Not bases"...I then ask myself "Then why the heck do all these 'icons' are low quality that and look like you just cropped the dang picture!" I mean come on! If your going to post a billion icons that every single one looks like bases and have the nerve to say "Not bases" at the beginning of your post then why even bother...at least change the freaking coloring on some of them or something....and then on top not only do you have one post like this but you have like 5 others also with a billion "icons" each....
ok rant done....I dunno this really annoyed me |

Dear certain person who runs an icontest community:
When you use really really shitty screen caps, please do not whine and throw a fit when no one will enter your challenges. Because there are GREAT HQ images of this person. THERE IS A WEBSITE OF HQ IMAGES FOR THIS PERSON, and it's not like there are only, two or something. There is an archive of over a thousand.
So.
In short: Find better screencaps and maybe you'll get more people entering your contest. |
